“This isn’t a cookie cutter law practice.  At DBJ, you’re encouraged to find new solutions and novel approaches to solving problems.”

David Harris didn’t start out focused on the field of law. Harris received his undergraduate degrees in History and English from Wheaton College in 1997. After a career in human resources consulting and marketing, Harris moved on to study law, receiving his degree from the University of Missouri in 2008.

Harris joined DBJ in 2011, when he saw the opportunity to support people in their time of need through the work the firm was doing representing those injury by others’ negligence.

David sees his job as more than winning a settlement for a client. He says its about, “Giving people the opportunity to be heard and have their stories told.”

Harris enjoys working with his colleagues at DBJ. Together, they utilize their collective experience and resources to untangle complex cases and deliver results for their clients.

If David isn’t working hard on a case, you can find him spending time with his wife and one-year-old son, Benjamin.

When David Harris joined DBJ in 2011, he brought with him a diverse career experience that gave him insight into how some of the corporate defendants he would litigate against operate.  His background in human resource consulting and marketing gives him understanding of the mindset of many opponents.

Having earned an undergraduate degree in History and English from Wheaton College and then working in the corporate world, David received his law degreed from the University of Missouri in 2008. While attending the University of Missouri, David was on the Dean’s List, a member of the school’s first Arbitration team to go to Nationals, and elected to the Order of the Barristers for skills in trial and advocacy. He was also a Note and Comment Editor on the Journal of Dispute Resolution, received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for Trial Practice and for Product Liability, and was the recipient of the Roscoe Anderson Award for Excellence in Advocacy.

After graduating from law school and prior to joining DBJ, David clerked for the Honorable Judge Mark Pfeiffer at the Western Missouri District Court of Appeals. This experience was invaluable for gaining additional insight on how courts handle everyday and novel trial and appellate disputes that David encounters regularly as part of his practice today.

David focuses his civil practice in representing plaintiffs in products liability, business tort litigation, automobile accidents, tractor-trailer litigation and appellate matters.  He is a member of the Missouri Bar, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.
