“I believe we have the most fulfilling job in the legal community.”

As a first generation college student, Valley Renshaw always wanted to be an attorney and worked hard to get himself where he is today.

In 2004, Renshaw graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with honors in Political Science. Valley attended law school at the University of Missouri—Kansas City, obtaining his law degree in 2008. Along the way, he made the Dean’s List every semester, was the Editor-in-Chief of the Urban Lawyer, was a member of both the U.M.K.C. National Moot Court Team and the Accelerated Trial Advocacy Program, and was named to the Order of Barristers (distinction for the top advocates of the graduating class).

Noted for his exceptional work, Valley was referred to the partners at DBJ in 2009 while doing volunteer work for Legal Aid and joined the team shortly after as an associate.

Valley felt drawn to plaintiffs law and DBJ because it gave him the opportunity to continue helping people. Renshaw feels the weight and importance of delivering results for his clients as they face the biggest challenges of their lives. He says, “We have the opportunity to make a great impact on someone’s life and I take that very seriously.”

When Valley isn’t working hard on a case, you can find him volunteering for Legal Aid of Western Missouri’s Municipal Court Division. He is also a Board Member for the Kansas City area non-profit Ultimate KC.

Valley Renshaw is deeply committed to earning results for DBJ clients.  He recognizes the opportunity he and DBJ have to make a huge difference in the lives of their clients in what is typically the most difficult times of their lives.  His focus is on representing those injured by the fault of others. His work includes claims for serious injury and death, insurance bad faith, pharmaceutical litigation, business torts, complex litigation, and medical negligence.

Valley is admitted to practice in Missouri and Kansas state courts, as well as the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri and the United States District of Kansas.  He is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, and the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys.

After graduating from the University of Missouri – Kansas City with a Political Science undergraduate degree, Valley continued at UMKC, earning his law degree in 2008.  It was in law school that Valley really honed his leadership qualities.  Valley earned Dean’s List honors every semester, was the Editor-in-Chief of the Urban Lawyer, was a member of both the U.M.K.C. National Moot Court Team and the Accelerated Trial Advocacy Program, and was named to the Order of Barristers (distinction for the top advocates of the graduating class).

Early professional training had a big influence on Valley’s career as well.  During law school, he interned for Judge Thomas Newton in the Missouri Court of Appeals, Judge Fernando Gaitan in the Federal District Court for the Western District of Missouri, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Missouri and was a research assistant to Professors Robert Klonoff and William Eckhardt.

Valley’s commitment to those in need isn’t limited to the exceptional work he delivers every day at DBJ.  He is a regular volunteer for Legal Aid of Western Missouri’s Municipal Court Division and is also a Board Member for the Kansas City area non-profit KC Ultimate.
