Timothy C. Gaarder

  • Tim Gaarder started his career at a defense firm and found success, even becoming partner. But it was a call from Tom Jones that veered his career course and directed him to plaintiffs law and DBJ.

The transition to DBJ felt natural to Gaarder because it gave him the opportunity to help people — a philosophy that aligns closely with how he lives his life. Gaarder is motivated by the people behind every case and ensuring they get the justice and compensation they need.

Tim feels that putting in the work and doing the research will reap the rewards for your client. “If a case is litigated the right way, you will win,” says Gaarder.

Gaarder graduated in 2001 cum laude with his Bachelor of Science Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Missouri. He received his law degree from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2004, attaining the Dean’s List for academic excellence.

If Tim isn’t working hard on a case, you can find him with his family and participating in the community. He is the president of Brookside Soccer Club, a non-profit organization that provides a safe environment to help Kansas City area youth grow through playing soccer.

  • Tim Gaarder is passionate about helping those in need. It’s what drove him to practice plaintiffs injury law and is a big reason he has had so much success representing injured people and their families. The major jury verdicts and settlements Tim has earned on behalf of DBJ clients are clear indicators of his commitment to success in his practice.

Tim graduated cum laude with his Bachelor of Science Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts degrees, both in 2001, from the University of Missouri. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri – School of Law in 2004, attaining the Dean’s List for academic excellence. He was also selected as one of two students in the school to attain the C.A.L.I. Award of Excellence for Trial Advocacy in 2004.

Tim is licensed to practice law in the state and federal courts of Missouri and Kansas. He focuses his practice areas around personal injury, railroad litigation (crossing accidents and FELA cases), product liability, car accidents, tractor-trailer litigation, premises liability, and class action work. He is a member of the Missouri Bar, the Kansas Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the Lawyers Association of Kansas City, and the American Bar Association.

An ardent fan of the Missouri Tigers, Tim is a proud member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He is from Joplin, Missouri, in the southwest part of the state and now lives in Kansas City, Missouri, where he is a member of Visitation Catholic Church. Tim is the President of Brookside Soccer Club and enjoys golf, tennis, and spending time with his wife and four children.
